Privacy Policy
What we collect
When you submit a photo, we collect:
- Your email address — required for moderation and contact purposes.
- Your chosen display name.
- Your dog’s name.
- Your photo.
- A caption you write.
- An optional location note (we recommend keeping this vague).
- Your consent choices at the time of submission.
What is shown publicly
If your submission is approved and display permission was granted, the following may appear on the site:
- Dog name
- Your display name
- Caption
- Category
- Location note, if you provided one
- The photo itself
Your email address is never shown publicly.
How photos are stored and served
Photos are stored in a private storage bucket and are not accessible via any direct public URL. They are served through a protected image route that verifies a submission is approved before generating a short-lived signed URL. The underlying storage path is never exposed in public HTML.
What we don’t expose
Public pages on DogDrops do not include:
- Email addresses
- Internal user IDs
- Authentication tokens or session cookie values
- Raw storage paths
Voting
If you sign in and vote, we record your vote against your account. Votes are limited to one per user per day. Your voting history is not shown publicly. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in — this is httpOnly and not accessible to scripts on the page.
Removal
You can request removal of your submission at any time. See the Remove a Drop page for details.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page.
